It is the signal that are body gives to us that we should eat. However, due to many people overeating for long periods there hunger signals are out of balance. In prehistoric times humans ate when they felt hungry. In the modern world we eat based on a schedule. One of the most important meals of the day is the breakfast. This will make them very hungry during the day where they will have either a big lunch or dinner. After about 4 weeks your body should normalise and you should be waking up feeling hungry and looking forward to eating your breakfast in the morning. The key thing to remember is that you should eat when you are hungry not eat because it is time to eat. Another important point is that you should eat smaller portions. A bad eating habit that many people have is that they sit down to eat a large meal in the evening shortly before they go to bed. This means that very little of these calories will be burned off and therefore, increasing their weight. It will take time but you will want to reach a point that you will be hungry before you sit down for each meal. Another important tip is to chew your food slowly. It has been researched that after 20 minutes of chewing the brain signals to the body that it is full. Another benefit of chewing your food more is that it is easier for the body to digest which does not put pressure on the digestive system.
